Welcome to a great experience of sightseeing in the context of Christian fellowship as we explore parts of Australia and New Zealand in March, 2020.

NOTE:  B means breakfast provided; D means dinner provided

Day 1 March 10 10pm ….We depart LAX 
Day 2     “is missing”
Day 3 March 12 D

Arrive in Melbourne in the morning and transfer to a flight to Adelaide

Our hotel is in Glenelg, a charming sea-side suburb of Adelaide.  After we check in to our hotel, there is time to stretch legs, look at the Southern Ocean, have a relaxing meal together and get a good night’s rest.

Day 4 March 13 B D

A full day of touring Adelaide including the Botanic Gardens and Cleland Wildlife Park.  Back at the same hotel

Day 5-6-7    

will be our home-stay nights…in three different communities in South Australia and Victoria.

Day 5 March 14 B

Morning visit to the Aboriginal Museum and time to shop and explore Rundle Mall, Adelaide’s great walking street. We will arrive at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Aberfoyle Park (a southern suburb of Adelaide) where we will have a “community tea” (pot luck dinner in the USA) with members and then go to their homes for overnight.

Day 6 March 15  

We will worship at ??? followed by lunch with members of this congregation. Then we are off to the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills. We will stop at Seppelfeldt’s Winery for a look around the vineyards and a little wine tasting before arriving at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in the historic German-Lutheran town of Hahndorf. We will meet hosts families and spend this Sunday evening in their homes for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 March 16  

Our coach will take us to a famous agricultural area of Victoria where we will be meet hosts and be guests in homes of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Horsham, Victoria.

Day 8 March 17 D

We will drive through the breath-taking Gampian Mountains on our way to Ballarat, arriving in time to spend three hours at Sovereign Hill, a fantastic recreated gold-rush village. Dinner and then overnight in a Ballarat hotel.

Day 9 March 18 B D

Today we will be transferred to Melbourne where we will have a Melbourne City Tour with a stop at the Botanical Gardens. BBQ dinner and overnight at the Batman’s Hill Hotel.

Day 10 March 19 B

This is a day you can explore Melbourne on your own OR sign up for half-day or day tours in the area OR shop. You could add the Melbourne Zoo to your bucket list. Dinner on your own tonight. Every ethnic restaurant you can imagine! Same hotel.

Day 11 March 20 B

We coach from Melbourne to Walla Walla, New South Wales. Great scenery along the way. Lunch at the “Tucker Box” rest top. Tonight we will be guests for dinner and overnight one last time in Australia in a very rural and agricultural Lutheran community with members of Zion Lutheran Church.

Day 12 March 21 D

We travel on to Australia’s capitol city, Canberra where we will visit their beautiful Parliament Building and their War Memorial. Dinner and overnight at the Mercure Canberra Hotel.

Day 13 March 22 B D

After church and lunch we will drive approximately three hours to a hotel on George Street not far from the center of Sydney. Dinner and overnight at the George Hotel.

Day 14 March 23 B

After breakfast, a Sydney City Tour followed by a visit to the Sydney Centre Point Tower (1000 feet high over the center of Sydney) and a 60-minute tour of the Sydney Opera House. Dinner on your own tonight. Lots of choices available.

Day 15 March 24 B

Today you can 1) shop ‘til you drop, 2) visit any number of museums, 3) take a half-day or full-day Greyline tour. We will meet for our final Aussie dinner at Nick’s Bar & Grill, King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour.

Day 16 March 25 B D

Transfer with a local coach driver/guide to Sydney International Airport for a mid-morning departure for LAX, arriving at LAX about 7 AM the same morning.

NOTE:  For those wishing to continue to New Zealand for one more week of exciting touring in this very beautiful country, the price for airfare, hotels, coach, meals, and sightseeing is being developed.
